Daniel Bockman, original co-founder of 312 Pizza Company and current owner of Tempered Cafe & Chocolate (and Green Hour at night), is opening South Side Kitchen & Pub in the former deep dish pizza destination on Nolensville Pike.

Bockman recently split from the 312 Pizza ownership group (the Germantown restaurant remains open) to open the new pub in the 2190 Nolensville Pike 312 Pizza space that shuttered in April of this year.

South Side is focusing on three key components, according to Bockman. He says they’ll serve an “elevated pub menu” and approachable cocktails, with a focus on the neighborhood regulars.

On the menu, expect standard bar appetizers, salads, burgers, and entrees like fish and chips and chicken pot pie. The bar has 14 taps and will feature rotating local and craft beers along with an extensive wine and cocktail list.

Heading operations: Ryan Lockert, bringing his downtown experience of 13 years with BB Kings and the Valentine Nashville to the table. Chef Matt Hayse leads the kitchen, with previous experience at Rumors East, Urban Flats and most recently traveling as a personal chef to numerous well known music artists including Eric Church. Krystal Lockert, the current beverage director of the Green Hour in Germantown, leads the bar and cocktails.

“I am not trying to re-invent the wheel, I just want to give the neighborhood, which I am also a resident, somewhere to go for good food, drinks and maybe to watch some football or hockey,” says Bockman. He continues “What I am most proud of is how adaptable we’ll be. I will be in the restaurant every day talking with everyone and hearing what they want. Whether it be a new menu item, trivia, karaoke, whatever, we will give it a try.”

Once open, South Side Kitchen & Pub’s hours will be Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and open later on Friday and Saturday nights. A quick service lunch menu will be offered on weekdays, and weekend brunch, happy hour, and live music are all on tap for the new pub.
