Here Are Nashville’s 2020 James Beard Awards Semifinalists

Eight people are James Beard award semifinalists in Nashville this year — and six are affiliated with Strategic Hospitality

The list of the semifinalists for the 2020 James Beard Foundation awards was just released, and this time several Nashville chefs and restaurants made the cut. The finalists are announced on Wednesday, March 25. Winners are announced on Monday, May 4 in Chicago.

Here’s the list of Nashville semifinalists:

Outstanding Restaurateur: Benjamin Goldberg and Max Goldberg, Strategic Hospitality, Nashville (The Catbird Seat, The Patterson House, Henrietta Red, and others)

Rising Star Chef of the Year: Will Aghajanian and Liz Johnson, The Catbird Seat

Best Chef (Southeast): Josh Habiger, Bastion

Best Chef (Southeast): Philip Krajeck, Folk

Best Chef (Southeast): Julia Sullivan, Henrietta Red

Best Chef (Southeast): Vivek Surti, Tailor

Other semifinalists representing Tennessee include Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman of Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen in Memphis, TN; Cassidee Dabney of The Barn at Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN, (all for Best Chef: Southeast).


Disclosure: Some Vox Media staff members are part of the voting body for the James Beard Foundation Awards. Winners in the book/television/journalism categories will be announced at a dinner in New York on April 24.
