Local hot chicken favorite Slow Burn quietly opened its second location in East Nashville over the weekend — taking its hot chicken burritos, omelettes, and more to Nashville proper (specifically, to the former Ruby Ann’s space). In the past, fans of Marlon and Joyce Reed’s fiery fowl and fish had to head to Madison for their fix.
At Slow Burn, heat levels range from “sprinkle” to “purgatory” and for the very brave, there’s even an off-menu “elephant repellant”. Beyond basic hot chicken and fish, the spot is known for a plethora of outside-the-box weekend breakfast options from savory hot chicken--filled omelettes and breakfast burritos to sweet hot chicken donuts and apple fritters.
The new restaurant at at 726 McFerrin Ave., near Cleveland Park, is open Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday/Saturday 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.
