In case anyone is getting antsy and missing the days of traveling and experiencing the culinary treasures of cities near and far, Urban Grub is introducing a new weekly quarantine travel series that can help. No, no one will be jetting off to the great culinary cities of the world just yet — but they can pick up meals inspired by New Orleans’ Jazz Fest, Montreal’s Joe Beef, and the island food of Hawaii over the next three weekends.
The fun kicks off this week, with meals for pick-up Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, April 26. Chef Will Lovell, pastry chef Alyssa Gangeri, and the bar program’s creative force Wil Schultz have put together a package inspired by some of the fan favorites at Jazz Fest every year (which normally takes place at this time, but was cancelled due to COVID-19). The flavor-packed sampler includes savory treats like crawfish bread, andouille links, gumbo, and bbq shrimp. And of course, there are pillowy beignets and even bananas foster bread pudding for dessert. To-go, appropriately themed cocktail add-ons are $12 for two — in the form of Hurricane, Vieux Carre, and Sazerac.
Next weekend, April 30 through May 3, the team transports diners to Montreal, Canada for Joe Beef’s “Surviving the Apocalypse”. Then on Mother’s Day weekend (yes, that’s May 7 through May 10) the theme is Maui, Hawaii for Mother’s Day in paradise.
Order online via Tock for pick-up slots. All meals, packaged for two ($60) or four ($100) come served hot and ready to eat.
