Nashville breakfast and lunch staple Silver Sands Cafe is back open, according to social media posts.
Family-owned and operated for more than 50 years, Silver Sands Cafe was forced to close following sizable tornado damage in March. After that, a contractor fumbled repairs. The three-punch of the COVID-19 shutdown forced the Nashville institution to close its doors.
Silver Sands’ Sophia Vaughn is the third generation owner of the restaurant — starting her days at 2 a.m. in the kitchen for her first loyal customers at 6 a.m. City House’s Tandy Wilson, alongside Lee Initiative, took to Instagram in May to share Vaughn’s story and launch a fundraiser to help her get back in the kitchen. The fundraiser — a Memorial Day fried chicken basket — sold out quickly.
Vaughn promises that Silver Sands is back and better than ever — sharing an opening day menu of turkey hash, wings in gravy, pork chops, and more. Social media lists hours as Tuesday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Silver Sands Cafe is closed on Monday and Saturday.
