Restaurateur Sam Fox’s eponymous Fox Restaurant Concepts announced via press release that Blanco Cocina + Cantina, at upcoming downtown Nashville development Fifth + Broadway, will start serving tacos and tequila drinks on March 2. It will be the first standalone restaurant to open at the so very long-awaited mixed-use development, set to open its first phase of restaurant and retail options on March 4.
It’s the eighth location overall for Fox’s Phoenix-born modern, Sonoran-style Mexican restaurant — and the first in the South. Other locations are in Arizona, California, and Texas — all with a menu of burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, chimichangas, and cheese crisps. Other menu highlights include jalapeno-spiked hamachi and watermelon ceviche with pomegranate seeds, plus creative tacos on hand-made tortillas, like the carne asada paired with scallion relish, crushed avocado, and spicy garlic butter.
The bar at Blanco will serve an array of tequila and mezcal flights, vacation-inspired cocktails, and plenty of margaritas crafted with house-made sours and fresh-squeezed juice.
The restaurant has brought on Brandon Katz as General Manager and Justin Eaton (a Nashville local) as executive chef, and will be hiring 75+ team members for this location, which is nearly 5,000-square-feet. Sweeping, open windows will overlook the action on Broadway below, with a laid-back party vibe inside.
Starting March 2, Blanco will be open Monday thru Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. (pending city curfew changes). Brunch will be on weekends starting at 10 a.m. and there’s a weekday happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m.
Dine-in, pick up or delivery, and online ordering will all be available.
Fox already has two restaurants in Nashville’s Green Hills neighborhood — True Food Kitchen and North Italia. Fox also has Twelve Thirty Club in the works at the same downtown address, but few details are known yet about it.
