Here’s What’s Open During Nashville’s Icy Winter Storm 2021

A running list of open restaurants, coffee shops, and bars as many of the city’s roads lie under a blanket of snow and ice

Delia Jo Ramsey/Eater Nashville

Over the weekend Middle Tennessee was showered with a blanket of snow and ice unlike anything seen in recent memory. Even weirder? It stuck. And with that, everyone has been stuck at home for a different reason this time — thanks to those slick, snow-blasted roads and an unwieldy list of restaurants and grocery stores closed to protect staff.

Yes, the poorly timed ice storm began on Valentine’s Day, thus causing further insult to injury to restaurants in Music City, limiting takeout and hours on what’s normally their busiest day of the year. And not surprisingly, it’s kept many of them closed Monday through Wednesday, holding out until the temperatures rise again to above freezing and the ice melts.

Still, some neighborhood spots are choosing to remain open for coffee, cocktails, and warm comfort foods, thanks to staffers who live nearby and/or dedicated owners.

It goes without saying that, if you choose to head out for food in these conditions, it’s probably best to stick to spots that are a short walk away. Oh, and make sure to tip heavily — folks might be risking their lives to get to work in these conditions, and they shouldn’t have to do it without being well-compensated for this essential work.

Scope out Eater’s list below for a guide to what’s open right now, but keep in mind the best thing to do is check a restaurant’s social media or call before venturing out, as things shift frequently. Most all are operating with limited hours and closing early due to the icy roads.
