Artists, restaurants, bars, and other businesses call Nashville's historic 2nd Avenue District neighborhood home along with a host of private residents. So when the horrific Christmas Day bombing caused staggering damage to the core of this community, its people did what they always do. They stood strong — and launched fundraising efforts.
The 2nd Avenue Strong Fund was created together by The DISTRICT and Metro Historical Commission Foundation in response to the severe damage and is being applied to support structural assessments and repair the facades of many irreplaceable historical buildings. As a supportive neighbor, Gray & Dudley, the 21c Museum Hotel’s popular dining hotspot, will host Cocktail for a Cause, benefiting select non-profits through November.
Offering a monthly cocktail program with a rotating roster of select non-profit recipients, Gray & Dudley encourages guests to give back to the community through thoughtful connections and creative cocktails. Beverage Director Matias Yerrick works with each non-profit to create a cocktail that speaks to the organization’s cause and personality. A portion of the proceeds goes directly to the highlighted non-profit each month.
The month of July goes to benefit 2nd Avenue Strong; the Market Street Caipirinha cocktail was created in honor of The Rodizio Grill’s caipirinha. The cocktails for the following months will be:
July: 2ndavestrong
August: Nashville Repertory Theater
September: Giving Kitchen
October: Gilda’s Club
November: Nashville Design Week
