Chago’s Re-Opens in Belmont with New Interiors and Menu

After closing in 2022, Chago’s Belmont Cantina has re-opened in its original Belmont-Hillsboro location under new ownership. The team behind Green Hills Grille and Mere Bulles took over the space after previous owner Chad Head shuttered the decade-old restaurant to focus on other endeavors.

While the exterior remains relatively unchanged (there’s a sign with a new logo out front), the interior is much brighter than its predecessor, boasting new tables, a ceiling light fixture that says “Belmont Hillsboro,” and a bright blue and orange color palette.

As for the menu, Chago’s infamous queso is present and accounted for along with traditional Mexican fare such tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. But the new items — like ceviche, jalapeño chicken, and a strong lineup of salads — have made their way on the roster after some test runs at Green Hills Grille.

Chago’s is open daily starting at 11 a.m. (Sundays at 10 a.m.) and has plans to launch a weekend brunch soon.

A booze-free bash at Elegy

Absence of Proof, an alcohol-free pop-up bar experience, is launching its Nashville chapter with a non-alcoholic (NA) cocktail party at Elegy Coffee Germantown this Thursday, September 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The party — which includes unlimited NA cocktails, NA wine, and ready-to-drink options — is 21 and over. Touch of Brews returns to Sevier Park

For the third year running, Terrapin Beer Company’s Touch of Brews festival returns to Sevier Park in 12 South. From September 29 to 30, channel the spirit and the sounds of the Grateful Dead while listening to a roster of live bands, sipping on Terrapin Beer and Waterbird Spirits, and making the food truck rounds. The event is family-friends (kids 10 and under get in free) and features a kid zone with arts and crafts, face painting, and an instrument petting zoo courtesy of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Nearest Green Distillery’s Inaugural Balloon Festival

This weekend, take a field trip to Shelbyville for Nearest Green Distillery’s first-ever Balloon Festival. On Saturday, September 30, the grounds of the distillery will turn into a makeshift fairground filled with hot air balloons, carnival rides, a kid zone, a local artist showcase, a live performance by American Idol finalist HunterGirl, and, yes, plenty of Uncle Nearest cocktails. Festivities kick off at 1 p.m. and admission is free.

Steinholding championship qualifier at Tennessee Brew Works

Cue the Oktoberfest festivities: Tennessee Brew Works is hosting a Steinholding State Championship Qualifier on October 1 at 2 p.m. The competition is open to anyone looking to test their strength and endurance while sampling Tennessee Brew Works’ Oktoberfest beer. But those who aren’t hoisting heavy drinkware can enjoy live music by Musik Meisters and plenty of eats. Register in advance to secure your spot — you can do that online or in person before the event begins. The entry fee is $15 and includes a Tennessee Brew Works Oktoberfest stein.
